Kettering 0-0 Tamworth

Kettering failed to overcome a resilient Tamworth outfit as the two sides drew 0-0 on Boxing Day.

The Poppies remain in the play-off places however, after Mansfield lost at York.

The first half was catagorised by a number of half chances with neither side settling into any passing rhythm.

Richie Partridge's had a good shot blocked by Richard Tait with first Anthony Elding and then Danny Thomas failing to force the ball home.

Iyseden Christie should have scored when put through on goal by Simon Brown but the striker put his shot just wide of the left-hand post.

The Lambs ended the half the stronger of the two sides but with neither side able to break the deadlock it was into the changing rooms to regroup.

Kettering actually emerged the sharper of the two sides with Danny Alcock called into action early on although efforts from Simon Heslop and Andre Boucaud failed to really test the stopper.

Heslop was then forced to head the ball behind his goal after a dangerous Neil MacKenzie's freekick before Chris Smith headed his chance over as Tamworth started to dominate possession.

With the match winding down, Alex Rodman nearly stole the show as his 25 yard shot took a deflection on its way towards the goal, but Harper steadied himself to calmly collect the shot.

Both sides pushed on with the final whistle just minutes away but it wasn't to be as they settled for the draw.

Kettering bookings: Elding, Boucaud
