Crawley Town 0-1 Barrow

10-man Crawley Town suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of Barrow on Saturday as a second-half penalty was enough for the visitors to claim all three points.

Crawley boss Steve Evans will be left wondering just how his side failed to make their dominance count in the opening hour of play.

The Red Devils restricted their opponents to just two shots on target but it was enough for the Bluebirds as a 75th minute penalty settled the affair.

Andy Bond had just earlier seen his effort saved by Crawley goalkeeper Simon Rayner but Barrow were given another chance to claim the lead from the penalty spot when Karl Broadhurst was shown a straight red for a foul on Jason Walker.

Walker made no mistake from the spot to give the Bluebirds an unlikely lead and set up a tense finish at Broadfield stadium.

The hosts should have drawn level just three minutes later but Eddie Hutchinson headed wide of the left-hand post from close range.

Crawley substitute Charles Ademeno also had a chance to snatch a point for his side but he failed to his the target with his 89th minute effort from outside the penalty area.

Crawley bookings: Pinault.

Sent Off: Broadhurst (74).

Barrow bookings: Sheridan.

Ref: R Martin (Weston-Super-Mare).

Att: 1,051.
