Barrow 2-0 Ebbsfleet Utd

Barrow further distanced themselves from the relegation places with a fairly comfortable victory over 10-man Ebbsfleet United at Holker Street on Saturday afternoon.

The Bluebirds have now extended their unbeaten run to four straight games and find themselves sitting in 15th position with 20 points from 17 games.

But Liam Daish's side have experienced contrasting fortunes of late and currently sit second-from-bottom with just one win to their name thus far.

The Fleet were reduced to ten men in the 38th minute when right-back Gavin Heeroo picked up a second yellow card for a challenge on Neil Wainwright from behind.

Barrow struggled to break down an obstinate Ebbsfleet defence but finally got the breakthrough they were looking for in the 76th minute.

On-loan striker Jon Shaw capitalised on a defensive mix-up between Fleet skipper Darius Charles and goalkeeper Lance Cronin, firing a shot in off the upright from just 14 yards out.

The home side put the result beyond doubt in the 86th minute when debutant Andy Cook, who had been on the pitch for less than a minute, toe-poked Shaw's pass from close range.

Barrow bookings: None.

Ebbsfleet bookings: Heeroo.

Sent off: Heeroo (37).

Referee: Matthew Bristow (Manchester).

Attendance: 1,241.
