Barrow 3-3 Gateshead

Barrow and Gateshead produced a Boxing Day thriller at Holker Street as the sides couldn't be separated after a six-goal epic.

The point would have been more welcome by the Bluebirds, who thrice came from behind to snatch a share of the spoils. For the visitors, the clash will have to be viewed as a lesson into their defensive frailties as they still lie perilously close to the dreaded drop zone.

Neale McDermott and a brace from Daryl Clare did the trick for Gateshead, while Marc Goodfellow, Andy Bond and Gregg Blundell got on the scoresheet for Barrow.

McDermott kick-started the riveting clash in the second minute by chipping home keeper Stuart Tomlinson after exchanging neat passes with Jon Shaw.

Almost immediately after the restart, Goodfellow pounced to bury Craig Nelthorpe's corner, leveling matters.

Clare put the visitors back in front just before the interval after firing a loose ball home.

After the break, Goodfellow was back in the thick of the action, with his superb through ball setting up Bond to equalise.

On the 57-minute mark, Clare netted his second of the afternoon after meeting Craig Baxter's assist.

Greg Blundell then made it three goals in a crazy 10 minutes from Nelthorpe's miscued header to even matters.

Mark Robinson watched as his corner for Gateshead was cleared off the line, while Shaw missed a sitter for the visitors, who were denied a third away win in the league.
