City keen to extend manager's stay

Blue Square South club Worcester City are keen to extend the stay of manager Richard Dryden.

The ex-Birmingham City and Southampton defender joined the club last November and has since transformed the club both in the personnel and style of play.

The City manager is keen on signing a new long-term deal and has been assured that he and assistant boss Carl Heeley have the backing of the board after the appointment of Anthony Hampson as new chairman.

Dryden's deal expires at the end of the season and talks have already been opened at St George's Lane to extend the manager's contract.

"We've had talks, which is great. They want to get it sorted out as quickly as they can so I am just waiting for an offer to come and see what they've got to say," Dryden told NonLeagueDaily.

"I love it here. They've welcomed me with open arms and the board have been great because the first question I was asked at the fans' forum was 'Richard who?', which was probably right management-wise.

"The board have backed me, the fans have definitely backed me and I just want to get something longer term here and build for the future."

"There's absolutely no thought from anybody on the board to changing the structure of the management," out-going chairman Dave Boddy added.

"We are currently talking and negotiating with Richard about a new contract."
