Fallon places faith in Reeves

Histon manager Steve Fallon will put new recruit Damian Reeves through in paces during pre-season training in order to unearth his true potential.

The striker signed for the Stutes from Farsley Celtic last month and has linked up with the squad for their off-season preparations.

And Fallon is eager to get Reeves in peak condition after realising his fitness levels were not up to Histon's standards.

He told Cambridge Evening News: "Damian's had his first training session, and it was actually quite pleasing to see he was way off the level of fitness of our players.

"He knows he's got a long way to go and I think he was surprised at the level of work the players put in.

"But if he was a good player in the Blue Square Premier at that level of fitness last season, then he'll be even better when we can get him fit."

The hitman - who netted 15 goals for Rovers last term - will get his chance to wow the Stutes fans in the opening game against Torquay at the Glass World Stadium on August 9.

Tricky away trips to Mansfield and York follow and Fallon believes the tough start will stand the club in good stead.

He added: "I think it's a very tough start, but all the games are tough and if these players can push on then we've a chance of getting in those play-offs."
