Histon manager Steve Fallon feels Cambridge City's Josh Simpson would be the perfect signing for the club and is eager to snap him up.
The Stutes boss claims that the Lilywhites' midfielder has all the attributes needed to succeed in the Blue Square Premier league.
Fallon told Cambridge-news online: "We've been given permission to speak to him and he's desperate to have another go in the Conference.
"He's a good player. He's young, fit and he wants to do well, and those are all things we like.
"We have got competition in midfield and Neil Andrews is looking good in training and back to his workaholic best, but if we could get him (Simpson) then it would make it very interesting indeed."
The boss ias very satisfied with the team's pre-season preparations and is keen to see how his new-look side performs.
Fallon said: "They'll all be pleased to be back playing and they're a credit to themselves as they've all come back in good shape and got on with a hard pre-season.
"Most of them will play half a game as they can't play a full game yet, so we'll be mixing it up a bit.
"If you play well then the result will come, but we're looking for the players to come through the game and they'll benefit from being in a match situation."
