Jack Midson

Crawley 3-3 Histon

Histon secured their place in the play-offs despite being reduced to ten men against Crawley Town, who put together a phenomenal second-half comeback.

The Stutes will tackle Torquay in a two-legged semi-final and will have the advantage of playing their home leg second due to their third-place finish.

Jack Midson's brace and Jamie Barker's effort put the visitors in the driving seat, but Histon keeper Danny Naisbitt received his marching orders in the second half and the momentum swung in favour of the hosts.

Jamie Cook's penalty coupled with strikes from Michael Malcolm and Jon Shaw ensured the spoils would be shared.

The first 45 minutes belonged to the Stutes as Antonio Murray knocked Santos Gaia's weak header back into the path of Midson, who only had the goalkeeper to beat. He fired a neat shot into the bottom corner of Simon Rayner's goal to fire the visitors in front.

Barker doubled the lead in the 35th minute with a wonderful volley from inches inside the area.

Just four minutes later, Barker and Murray combined with the latter's cross finding Midson, who made no mistake from close range.

The game seemed done and dusted at half-time, but stopper Naisbitt was sent off for his foul on Cook early in the second half and the midfielder stepped up to slot home the spot-kick.

Buoyed by that goal, the hosts added a second when Glenn Wilson's cross was headed in by Malcolm at the far post.

With ten minutes remaining, Shaw bungled the ball home to ensure a point for the Red Devils after Mat Mitchel-King cleared Cook's shot off the line.
