Histon 0-0 Gateshead

A new-look Histon eleven played out a goalless draw with Gateshead at the Glass World Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Histon manager Alan Lewer made six changed to his regular starting lineup after captain Matt Langston, Danny Wright, Nathaniel Knight-Percival, Joe Welch, Lanre Oyebanjo and Bradley Hudson-Odoiwere all failed to agree new deals with the club.

Callum Stewart therefore moved back to defence and Daniel Sparkes came into midfield, while Charlie Sheringham and Andy Pugh started in attack.

Gateshead defender Chris Swailes had the best opportunity of the match when he headed over the bar from close range as the home side rode their luck.

Sheringham, Pugh and Glen Southam all had chances for Histon, but the vistors create more and were unlucky when Phil Turnbull hit the post with a cracking 25-yard strike.
