Paul Carben: Impressive strike for winner
Cambridge United came from behind to secure derby-day success against Rivals Histon while stretching their unbeaten run to six matches.
The Abbey Stadium welcomed it's largest crowd so far this year, not surprising given that it was the visit of near neighbours Histon as well as the U's recent run of form which has seen them move clear of relegation danger.
The Stutes were out to spoil the party and won a penalty in the first half after Danny Crow had handled in the box. However the resulting spot-kick from Charlie Sheringham was well saved by U's keeper Simon Brown.
On the hour-mark Histon were to get their goal. Brown could do nothing about a Andy Pugh shot from inside the area, the young striker opening his Histon account after recently joining on loan from Gillingham.
Just six minutes later the home side were to draw level with Winger Scott Nielson continuing his impressive start at the U's. Danny Crow redeemed himself for earlier conceding the penalty as he crossed for Nielson to slot home.
And Cambridge would leave the winner until 5 minutes before the end when Paul Carden sent the home crowd into raptures. Brian Saah met a Antonio Murray corner but could only find the post. The ball then found its way out to Carden with the U's assistant coach driving home from 20-yards to seal the win.
Cambridge United bookings: Crow, Nielson.
Att: 4,417.
Ref: Robert Madley (West Yorkshire).
