Histon 1-1 Eastbourne Boro

David Livermore earned a point in his first game in charge of Histon as they drew 1-1 with Eastbourne Borough at Bridge Road on Tuesday night.

Ross Treleavan scored first for the high-flying visitors but Lanre Oyebanjo equalised with a superb 87th minute free-kick to snipe a share of the modest spoils.

In a gritty contest, The Sports started strongly with Jamie Taylor heading over from six yards out. They were soon, however, ahead when Treleavan broke forward in the 14th minute and unleashed a stinging 25-yard strike, which was too hot to handle for goalkeeper Joe Welch.

Richard Pacquette went on to scupper numerous chances but his side, nonetheless, remained deservedly in front at the break.

After the restart, the hosts grew in confidence but they struggled to find a way through. Erkan Okay came close late on when he forced a sharp save by keeper Rikki Banks with nine minutes remaining.

With Borough seemingly heading for a third straight win, Oyebanjo then struck with a delightful 25-yard effort to salvage a result and ease some pressure off his new boss Livermore.

The result leaves Eastbourne - with seven points - third on the Blue Square Bet Premier table, while Histon are two points off in 11th place.
