Burton 2-1 Weymouth

Burton Albion maintained their promotion push with a hard-fought victory over John Hollins' Weymouth at Pirelli Stadium on Sunday evening.

The visitors broke the deadlock after 17 minutes when Tony Bedeau sent in an inviting cross from the right-hand channel and James Coutts finished with a right-footed shot into the top-right corner.

Burton had a golden opportunity to draw level just one minute later when Weymouth goalkeeper Stephen Henderson fouled Daryl Clare in the box.

However, the shot-stopper redeemed himself shortly after as he parried Clare's spot kick to help his side maintain their slender lead.

The Terras were awarded a penalty just before the half-time break but Franklin Anzite's effort was tipped around the post by Burton 'keeper Saul Deeney.

The Brewers drew level on 68 minutes when John McGrath latched onto a Shaun Harrad pass and placed his shot in the bottom-left of goal from 12 yards out.

The hosts completed their remarkable comeback six minutes later as Keith Gilroy sent in an inswinging corner kick and John Brayford headed in at the right-hand side of six-yard box.
