Magpies confirm Fodgen signing

Dorchester Town have confirmed the signing of the former Brighton midfielder Wes Fogden on contract that runs until the end of the 2009/2010 season.

The 20-year-old all action midfielder agreed terms on his contract before the weekend when given permission by Seagulls boss Micky Adams to talk to the club and the transfer was made permanent earlier this week when Magpies Chairman Eddie Mitchell and Dick Knight his Brighton counterpart agreed the fine details of the transfer which involve a sell on clause for the League One side.

Fogden spent a successful three months on loan at the club last season making 14 appearances and scoring 2 goals before returning to Brighton and making several first team appearances for then manager Dean Wilkins.

His experiences then and during his recent loan spell at the County Town Club helped him in his decision of where his future laid.

Fogden told the club's official website: "When i returned to Brighton last Monday, the Gaffer made it clear to me that should things not work out back with them that he would do everything he could to sign me permanently.

"I was very dissapointed that during this loan spell they had not been checking on my progress at all and I just felt that I wasn't wanted anymore.

"Right from the first day I turned up at Dorchester last season everyone had been great to me and I loved my time here so although I had offers from a few other clubs it was not a hard decision to make to come back.

"The Gaffer thinks I am good enough to get back into the Football League and I believe that he will help me to do that.

"I love the training here and I always work hard whether its in practice or in a match and I will be doing my best to help our team climb the league table."

Fogden will make his first appearance as a contracted Magpie in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round replay against Newport County on Wednesday night and he is confident that good times are on the horrizon for his new team.

He added: "I can't wait for the game tomorrow night as we have another chance to progress to the next round of the cup.

"We have been very close to getting a win recently and I really think that once we do the team will kick on and go from strength to strength. I will certainly being doing all I can to make this happen."
