Danny Kedwell: League's leading scorer
AFC Wimbledon won for the first time in four outings, scoring a goal in each half to defeat visitors Eastbourne Borough.
After going down disappointingly to Crawley in midweek, The Dons came out firing and were dominant in the opening period. However Danny Knowles in the Eastbourne goal frustrated the hosts with two impressive saves to thwart Ricky Wellard and Nathan Elder early on.
Eventually the breakthrough came on the stroke of half-time. Glenn Poole was on hand to convert a Ricky Wellard cross from six-yards. It was the 29 year-old midfielder's first goal for AFC Wimbledon since moving from Grays in January.
The second half saw a change with Eastbourne becoming more adventurous as they sought an equaliser. Garry Wilson changed formation to put one more man up front and the move nearly paid dividends. The Sports were able to exert pressure on the Dons' defence and AFC Wimbledon had keeper James Pullen to thank as he got in the way of a Jamie Taylor volley.
Five minutes from time however the points were all wrapped up for the home side. Another well orchestrated team build-up led to Danny Kedwell heading home from a Derek Duncan cross. Kedwell has now scored 19 times in the league this season and is out front on his onw in the race to become the Blue Square Premier's top marksman.
