Lee Steele
Northwich Victoria enhanced their chances of survival with a battling win over 10-man Oxford United on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors broke the deadlock after ten minutes when Lee Steele found the bottom-left of goal with a solo effort from 18 yards out.
Darren Patterson's side had more than enough chances to post an equaliser but they were way too wasteful in front of goal and the scoreline reflects this.
Their task was made tougher when Luke Foster fouled Northwich striker Steele and was subsequently dismissed for second bookable offence.
Oxford were unable to recover from that setback and Northwich held their nerve to collect all three points.
Oxford bookings: Foster 45, Anaclet 84, Day 87.
Northwich bookings: Crowell 15, Byrom 72, Welch 79.
Sent off: Foster 57 (Oxford).
