Cambridge United further solidified their play-off position with a hard-fought win over Rushden & Diamonds at Nene Park on Tuesday night.
The match looked to be heading for a goalless draw but eventually came to life when Cambridge's Mark Beesley netted the opener in the 65th minute.
The U's found themselves in a comfortable position just eight minutes later when Beesley popped up again to net his second of the evening.
Rushden managed to pull one back through Michael Rankine in the 75th minute but couldn't beat the Cambridge defence again as the visitors held on for the win.
Rushden bookings: Rankine 42, Challinor 66, Burgess 79.
Cambridge bookings: Brown 45.
