Yemi Odubade
Darren Patterson's Oxford United battled their way to a narrow win against Rushden & Diamonds at Kassam Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The visitors ended up having the edge in terms of ball possession but it was Oxford who made their attacking pressure count with a late goal.
Yemi Odubade drilled a right-footed effort into the back of the net in the 85th minute to break the deadlock and Oxford held firm to collect all three points.
Rushden had a glorious opportunity to draw level late in injury time but Jon Challinor's header from six yards out went wide of the right-hand post.
Oxford bookings: Hand 72.
Rushden bookings: Corcoran 63, Woodhouse 90.
