Justin Edinburgh
Rushden & Diamonds left it late as they moved up in to third place with a 1-0 victory away at Tamworth on Saturday afternoon.
Both sides struggled to assert themselves during the match, which meant the majority of the play was scrappy.
Lee Tomlin should have put the visitors into the lead before the break but he was unable to convert two glorious chances, much to the frustration of manager Justin Edinburgh.
Danny Alcock did brilliantly to keep Rushden's Aaron O'Connor at bay with a fantastic save, but his heroics would not seal a point as the away side finished the match strongly.
Max Porter made sure Rushden's late efforts would be rewarded as he snatched the three points with an 83rd minute goal.
Mark Byrne played the midfielder through on goal and he made no mistake with a neat finish to send the visiting fans into raptures and the home supporters away disappointed.
