Dominic Green

Rushden 4-1 Grimsby

Dominic Green created three goals in Rushden and Diamonds' 4-1 victory over Grimsby Town at Nene Park on Saturday afternoon.

The midfielder starred as the hosts eased to victory, with Justin Miller (41), Ryan Charles (59), Rene Howe (60) and Max Porter (66) getting on the scoresheet, while Mark Hudson (47) netted for the hapless Mariners.

Green's first assist came just before the break when his cross was headed home by Miller.

However, the lead was short-lived as Hudson equalised from close-range, barely two minutes into the second stanza.

The match turned abruptly on the hour as Charles, Howe and Porter all found the back of the net in an explosive seven-minute period.

Green fed the ball to Charles who duly obliged from close-range before Howe struck shortly after from inside the area.

Green then played in Porter who sealed the points - pushing Justin Edinburgh's men to tenth on the Blue Square Bet Premier table, while Grimsby - who are level on points - drop to 12th.

Rushden & Diamonds bookings: None.

Grimsby bookings: Gobern.

Att: 1,575.

Ref: Rob Whitton (Essex).
