Eastbourne 0-0 Salisbury

Eastbourne Borough extended their unbeaten run to three matches, but were unable to breakdown Salisbury City in a 0-0 draw at Langney Sports Club on Tuesday evening.

The visitors were coming into the clash on a strong run of form and were looking for their third successive victory. It was Boro however who had the better start with Nathan Crabb's long range effort forcing a save out of Whites goalkeeper James Bittner.

However, it was City who had the best chance of the first half when Borough keeper Lee Hook failed to collect a high ball in the box. The ball fell kindly for Charlie Griffin, but the striker was unable to take advantage of the mistake, sending his shot well wide.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first with few chances being created by either side.

Hook was able to make amends for his first-half error when he tipped Griffins effort around the post. The Boro stopper was called upon again four minutes from time when he comfortably saved a header from midfielder Brian Dutton.

Despite the chances that fell to the Whites in the second half, it was the hosts who had the last opportunity to snatch all three points. Substitutes Jack Jeffery and Sam Gargan produced a neat interchange to set up Jeffrey, only for the striker to put his effort wide thus ending Boro's chances of snatching a late victory.

The point keeps Boro in 13th position on the Blue Square Premier table with 50 points, while the Whites are a further two places back with 45 points.

Eastbourne bookings: Gargan.

Salisbury bookings: None.
