York will feel aggrieved to have lost their Blue Square Premier league match 1-0 to Salisbury after an early penalty.
The result ended an impressive run of games for Martin Foyle's side but increased Salisbury winning run to four.
York dominated much of the tie but just could not convert their chances and ultimately fell to the third minute spot kick converted by Matthew Tubbs.
Djoumin Sangare was adjudged to have fouled Tubbs in the box and the striker stepped up to convert the chance himself.
Richard Brodie went close on 20 minutes as he forced James Bittner into a fine save before seeing his chipped shot loop over the keeper but onto the roof of the net.
Bittner was called into action again when Levi Mackin took a pot-shot from 20 yards but the keeper tipped the ball over the bar.
Shots kept raining in but the closest York came was when Brodie hit the side netting on 39 minutes.
York picked up where they left off in the second half as Brodie found room to shoot although his effort lacked the direction and pace needed to beat Bittner.
At the other end Flood had too much time as he wasted and excellent chance to score when he found himself with just the keeper to beat.
Bittner was kept busy throughout the half but could do nothing about Brodie's shot on 74 minutes. Luckily the cross bar came to his rescue.
When the Minstermen did finally score via Brodie after Bitter could only parrie substitute Craig Nelthorpe's shot, the referee ruled the goal out for offside.
Ryan Tafazolli was sent off in the 84th minute after foul in Brodie but it did little to alter the tie as York were left wondering how they failed to at least earn a point.
Salisbury bookings: Brown, Sinclair.
Sent Off: Tafazolli (85).
York bookings: McGurk.
Att: 1266.
Ref: M Amphlett.
