Salisbury 2-0 Kettering

Salisbury City finished their season off on a high as they won their fifth game on the trot by beating Kettering 2-0 at Raymond McEnhill Stadium on Saturday.

Chris Shepherd and Matt Tubbs found the back of the net for the Whites as they finished in 12th spot in the Blue Square Premier standings.

Tommy Widdrington's charges dominated from start to finish and it was no surprise when they went ahead in the 19th minute after an an early period of pressure on the Poppies goal.

Shepherd unleashed a thunderbolt from 20 yards out which left Nathan Abbey in the Kettering goal with no chance.

The Poppies failed to create any clear-cut chances throughout the tie as they struggled to trouble a strong Salisbury defence.

The Whites missed a number of opportunities to kill off the game in the second period, but Tubbs doubled his side's advantage with five minutes to play.

The hitman, who has netted 27 times this season, found the back of the net with a superb strike from just outside the area.

Club Profile
A new looking ground that has been further developed since it was first opened in 1997. The first thing that strikes you about the stadium is that it is sunken, meaning that you enter at the back of the stands and descend into it.
