I've been thinking about the Luton supporters who could'nt find a parking space for thier car, before the game at Oxford last week. That is a horrible situation to be in. I think that all clubs should give info about parking on thier websites. A lot of travelling fans have absolutely no idea, what the surroundings are like around an away teams stadium. Oxford have a lot of housing estates around thier stadium, and I'm sure if the Luton fans had been given this info, the fans would have found ample parking on these estates, which are maybe a 5-10 minute walk from the stadium. Also, as you pointed out, the police & officials should have been more helpful in this matter. I sympathise with all travelling fans who have to miss the start of a match, because of this problem.
Wrexham is a hard place to play. Oxford's record at the racecourse ground in previous seasons has been useless to say the least. So a 1-0 away win over a tough Wrexham team, is a great result. Oxford have now conceded only 1 goal in their last 7 games. Well done, once again,p all the Oxford players and a big thank you to all United fans who travelled to Wales. COME ON OXFORD!!
Neilybabe, I agree partly with what you say about Oxford being the team to stop this season - but the point you made about Oxford's resources is'nt true. We are not by a long way the richest club in the BSP. and have not spent fortunes on players. What is positive and in our favour is the fact that we have a good chairman and a manager who has vision, can motivate players and has big plans for the future of the club. This means that good players stay at the club, and new talented players want to come to Oxford and develope their game in a positive environment. I think this is the key to our success at the moment. Money(or lack of it) is'nt the main incentive that makes players want to play for Oxford. Football is about passion and belief, and this is installed in the players from Chris Wilder our manager. His dedication is reflected in the players performance on the pitch. Oxford fans respect this and everybody connected with the club is benefitting from the positive effects of the teams recent run of good results. COME ON OXFORD!!
Hi Kiddy Kid! Thanks again, it's always a pleasure when you're on the forum. I agree with you, Oxford are going well at the moment. I'm not going to gloat on the result against Luton. The Luton fans are a credit to their club, and deserve better from their team. I think their manager, Harford has got to stop making excuses and realise that no team in this division is going to hand 3 points to them. After every match, he is always complaining about how Luton were robbed. The BSP is a good, competitive league and winning teams play good, competive football. Wake up Mr.Harford and get your team playing football that is worthy of the Luton fans. The Oxford manager does'nt make bad excuses after each game, instead he makes good decisions before each game starts. This is reflected in Oxford being top of the league at the moment. It's a long way to go and I'm sure Luton will get it together. Just shut up whining Mr. Harford and start being a manager. Your team has some talented players, so get them motivated. Finally Kiddy Kid...there's plenty of room for Kidderminster in the play-off places matey. COME ON OXFORD!!
Well done Oxford for a great win against Luton. It's great to still be top of the league and 5 points clear of our nearest rivals after 9 games. The fact that we are still unbeaten, means that every team in the BSP will be out to burst our bubble. We have got a great run going and we need to stay focused in every game, if we are to get promoted this season. Our next match is away to Wrexham, and that by know means is an easy place to play. The Welsh - English rivalry will certainly give them an incentive and Oxford will have to play well to ensure our unbeaten run stays intact. COME ON OXFORD!!
OXFORD VERSUS LUTON...MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN. COME ON YOU YELLOWS!!
Loyal Luton, good to see your optimistic for tuesday against Oxford. It's like the old days back in the 80's, with Luton coming down to Oxford. We've had some great games in the past. I remember one miserable saturday when you beat us 7-4 at Kenilworth Rd, and then the next week knocked us out of the League Cup in the semi-final. So there is some fair rivalry from the Oxford lads. We are really up for this match. The fact that we are the only 2 unbeaten teams in the BSP, means this game is very interesting, and could decide the outcome of the BSP this season. I fancy Oxford to win, our pace on the wings will challenge your defenders to the max, and we have some quality finishers in Constable, Green and Midson. Plus on the bench we have Potter and Cook, who are really hungry. Unless you play a real defenseive game like the play-killers of Forest Green, we will be at you from all angles. Oxford are really quick on the ball and I can see you struggling. I expect a crowd of around 10,000+ So...COME ON YOU YELLOWS!
It's going to be a cracker against Luton Town next week. The Oxford players and fans will be really up for this one, and I'm sure it's the same for Luton. This is a real test in the BSP showdown of the season. We are without a doubt, the 2 best supported teams in the league. I've heard that Oxford have allocated Luton fans with 3,000+ tickets. If Luton sell them all, the Kassam Stadium should be a cauldron. This is the BSP at it's best. It's a shame that it's not being televised. COME ON YOU YELLOWS!
It's a new footballing day today. Well done Oxford for a good result at Wimbledon on saturday. It was a good team effort by all the players and the Oxford fans were brilliant. Today we play Forest Green rovers, who have lost all their games so far. Oxford have won all but one of their games and remain undefeated. It won't be an easy game for Oxford against them. I'm sure that we will give it our all against FGR in front of a big crowd. Beware though...pride is a great incentive for the underdogs in a match and Oxford should not be complacent. On paper Oxford should bag all 3 points, but games are won on the pitch... COME ON OXFORD!
Looking forward to a fun Bank Holiday. Great result for Oxford at Wimbledon. It's nice to see that the whole Oxford team can play well in thier respective posistions. The team is bonding well and the future looks good. Congratulations also to Mansfield on a good win. It looks like our 2 teams will be going head to head for the championship. Look forward to mondays game against FGR and hopefully we can extend our lead at the top, COME ON OXFORD!
Oxford have just added to thier squad by securing the services of a left back and a centre half from Glasgow Rangers. Anybody know anything about these players?I have heard that one of them plays for the Scotland under 21's. COME ON OXFORD!
If Oxford can manage to close down Wimbledon forward Kedwell, we should hold onto the BSP leadership. Our 800+ supporters going to the match (we were only allocated 829 tickets)should make their presence felt. Oxford are really dangerous going forward and have scored in every game so far. This means we will definetely be going to Wimbledon aiming to take all 3 points. COME ON OXFORD!
Yes we know Wrexham is bigger, but we at Oxford have fans to fill our stadium. Come on you Yellows!!
Re Seasiderhatter's question about Gallen or Hatch ... Have we really seen a completely fit Hatch yet... MORE >>

Neilybabe it would be great if Oxford United Football Club directly benefitted from our higher than average attendances in the BSP. Unfortunately we have to rent our stadium from a shylock, who charges the club £450,000 per season and He also runs the catering concessions. Naturally higher attendances means more gate money, but this disappears in extra admininstrative and staff costs, and the money left over for the club is'nt as much as you would think. If we did'nt have these high attendances, the club would have faced bankruptcy years ago. As for the richest teams... York City, Luton Town are 2 clubs that are certainly better off. Plus a few other BSP clubs with good sponsorship deals and who own thier own grounds would in fact be better off, despite lower attendances. I heard somewhere that Oxford have to have an attendance of 6,000 per game, just to break even. I hope that answers your questions. COME ON OXFORD!!
