yorkloyal - don't forget we also beat rotherham, and when you look at where they are in League 2, it makes a mockery of the promotion system from the BSP. It's only a matter of time before the FA realise this.
Hi everyone, good luck to both teams on Sunday. I personally will be supporting Alfreton, purely because it's a local game for myself to go and watch. Being in Stoke, and regularly travelling to Chesterfield for girlfriends family, I constantly drive through Alfreton. Was hoping we'd be in League 2 next season so I'd be watching Chesterfield, Burton, and many many more local games, but if I only have Mansfield and Alfreton, that'll do for me. Best of luck and look forward to meeting whoever wins. I think it's a shame that the final's at Fleetwood's ground rather than a neutral place, is that normal?
jimycfc1 - wouldn't surprise me, i would have thought the overall gate would be slightly higher, around the 30-40%, with the other 20-40% going to commercials. Either way, best of luck to both teams involved
neilybabe - the incident was bad, but the press are having a bit of a field day and blowing it well out of proportion. The people that were involved were acting appaulingly and should rightly be banned from football for life, but they should be punished, not the club. You can't expect the club to do full background checks on everybody that enters the ground because it's not a realistic solution. You can however ban these from all grounds for life and try to cut out the nonsense of punishing a club for the minority who in reality were there just to start trouble instead of support Luton.
lutonphil - i agree completely, i'd left the ground and gone home to wallow in self-pity, and was amazed that this had gone on! I admit York deserve to go to wembley, we had countless chances and took none of them. Without taking chances you'll never win a game. we lost both games so therefore shouldn't proceed to the final. The people involved are not football fans, they've merely turned up looking for trouble after there were issues in York on Thursday. Either way these people need to be banned from football as it's the club that suffers. Enjoy the summer lutonphil and hope to hear from you again in August. YCFC_JustJames - i agree with our performance being well below-par. We won all the second balls at your place, and none at ours. Again you created a chance and took it, something we seemed incapable of doing in both legs. I'm certainly not proud of being a Luton fan today, but fingers crossed Money can persuade the majority of our team to stay and get rid of those unwilling to fight for the cause, and bring in his own choices. Could be a good year next season, and best of luck to both in the final, same in the teams fighting for promotion to the BSP. COYH!
tom25194 - hate to burst your bubble, but Luton isn't a city...hence our name...Luton Town...but yeh that's probably why they've heard of York. On another note, more people have heard of Luton Town FC that York City FC, so maybe we don't deserve to be here either. But the thing is, if that was the case our football teams would be walking the divisions, but they're not. I still dislike Brodie, constantly trying to cheat the ref, but at the end of the day, he took his chance at York, which our players couldn't do in 180 minutes. COYH!
Luton fans - what were you thinking?! i'm sorry, but i'm a luton fan through and through, and at no point did I even think about attacking york players/fans! It's that sort of moronic behaviour that makes teams dislike us! On another note, credit to York, again we created so many chances, but couldn't put the ball in. Therefore, York win. It's that simple. From my point of view (and no disrespect), I'd like York to go on and win it, as a Luton vs Oxford game next season would be excellent! Well done Oxford for the convincing win yesterday, and all the best at wembley. Enjoy the day out, and whoever goes up, good luck. As for us, should be a good season as we've got dicky dosh from the beginning. COYH!
Half-time playoff teams...gotta say i hope the team don't feel they've been kicked in the davinas as much as i do. what a smash and grab that is, the amount of the game we had, we were by far the better team, and i don't think york fans can dispute that. but in fairness to them, they took their rare chance, whereas we wasted plenty. Still, it's only half time, and the second halfs on our turf. COYH!!
probild - full credit to you for that, we would love to be getting 12,000 but due to the arrogance of the local council and those who protest, we've been unable to get a new ground for the last 70-odd years. When (if) it ever comes which it'll have to otherwise we'll be playing at a local park due to the stands falling down, we'll get higher gates. But until then, we'll make do with our full Kenny. COYH make some noise!!
therealnjinski - as much as i want to be positive, there's still a nagging feeling that we'll screw things up. But I'm sure there's york fans with the same feelings. These 4 games are huge for all the teams involved, and let's face it, I could see us beating Oxford, Rushden and York on our day, as can I see Rushden beating all of us, and Oxford...and maybe even York (cue banter!) All I know is it's a stupid night to be travelling a few hours up the M1, although the BSP's the focus tonight, forget Europa! COYH!!
tomwilson1 - talking of overrated, this Brodie's the biggest cheat in the league! I don't think I've ever seen a player fall over nothing more times than Emile Heskey in a game, and then blame the ref because he hasn't given a foul for this awful tackle by a really sharp blade of grass. I'll be up to the amazing KitKat crescent, i'll enjoy the break, i'll enjoy the atmosphere, and i'll enjoy the football, what i won't enjoy is the cheating going on by your striker, it's completely unprofessional. This is a great league, and all of the teams in the playoffs could go up. At the end of the day, you we haven't lost to you either, so we're not scared. It'll be a good game, just ask your striker to play football and not cheat his way through the 90 mins. COYH!!
rushdenrule - i'm no offended, but if i'm honest, i thought the invasion and crossbar challenege was a disgrace, and i was one of the fans firmly in the ground. i think the atmosphere was a bit quieter due to the game being a bit of an anti-climax. lutontime - i understand your excitement at being in the playoffs, but just because we're winning a poll doesn't mean we've won the playoffs, we've got at least 270 minutes left to play before we can even think about calling us a league 2 team, and that's only if we win the first 180(plus e.t if necessary). anyway should be a tense week for all of us. COYH!!
probild - the kenny's well outdated as i'm sure you know from your sarcasm, but you can't dispute the atmosphere in there. When it's full, it's very intimidating as well for the players. anyway, firstly, congratulations to eastbourne on an excellent great escape, it's a shame to see the teams go down though, hopefully it'll be a swift return. Rushden fans, what did you make of the game today? both fairly well matched i felt, and i thought it was an amazing turnout from us, considering we were all guaranteed playoff places. I read that the number of luton fans that turned up was more than your previous highest gate this season, so we've given you a bit of a financial boost there. Anyway, best of luck in the playoffs and hope (really hope) to see you all at wembley. COYH!!
hattersgirl - it pains me to say it but at the moment, we are a non-league club. don't get me wrong, i've put money on us going up automatically, but the odds were in my favour. still a long way to go, oxford have to win their games in hand remember! so they still have it all to do, and i think both our games at stevenage will hold the key. COYH!
stags fans - what did you make of the game last night? having seen a video of our 'goal', i have to say it was onside, so that's disappointing. i also felt the ref spoilt the second half with his persistant whistling, but I guess that's part of the fun with BSP football. very committed game from both teams, but too much of it was in midfield, neither keeper had to make a meaningful save really, but we definately came closest, and feel overall we edged it. not a bad following considering a midweek game either, shame there weren't many stags in the crowd though...but the atmosphere flattened as the game petered out which is a shame. still, another clean sheet and another point for both teams, best of luck for rest of the season, and see you next year probably lol. COYH!
